Hi I am based in Kingston Upon Thames running a number of dads groups but without many young dads engaging.
We are looking at how best we can taylor our exisiting services and maybe develop some new ones so as to support the local young dads in the area. Has anyone who has done consultation with young dads got copies of the questions they asked them and any advice on going about doing so? We plan to first run out a questionnaire followed by some consultation group work. Any advice, tips, copies of questions would be welcome. Thanks, Neil |

Hi Nigel
Generally the message from projects is that working one-to-one is the key rather than offering groups at the start. See info on the main site or in 'Supporting Young Fathers - Examples of Promising Practice' available from TSA - now called Young People in Focus. Thanks Kevin Thanks very much Kevin for your quick response. I have read "Supporting Young Fathers" and many other publications and guidelines on supporting young dads. I have not said that I want to offer groups or one-to-one support. My initial aim is to consult with our local young dads and find out who they are and what they feel their needs are. I was hoping some people on this forum may have done something similar with questionnaires and have copies they could give me so I can have an idea of what questions work well. Thanks again, Neil |

Thanks again, Neil Robert Beale - Young Father's Researcher in Cornwall Council (Children, Schools, Families) has just done an interesting piece of work that includes interviewing young dads about what they want service-wise.
